CIRCLE-2 Policy Brief#2 - MOUNTain Areas - Climate Change Impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptation This policy brief is directed towards funders and managers of research programmes on climate change impacts and adaptation as well as policy makers concerned with these issues. It notes various challenges in addressing climate change in research and policy for mountain areas and provides recommendations on research needs.

These were some questions raised during the workshop "Bridging Climate Research Data and the Needs of the Impact Community" organized by EEA, IS-ENES and CIRCLE-2. Pavel Kabat will participate in the High Level Committee for the Mekong Delta in Vietnam The Netherlands will help Vietnam cope with impacts of the climate change in the Mekong Delta by establishing an office tasked with preparing zoning plans for the water-clogged region. Prof.dr. Pavel Kabat will participate in this Delta Plan, along with other Dutch experts.

Deltas learn from each other The launch of the alliance took place during the international conference 'Deltas in times of Climate Change'. 'But we have actually been working on this on a smaller scale for the past eighteen months', explains programme manager Wim van Driel (Alterra). Alterra is acting as secretary for the alliance. The Netherlands (Rhine-Maas) laid the foundation for the collaborative venture together with Vietnam (Mekong), Indonesia (Ciliwung) and California (California Bay).

Summary delta conference The first international delta conference Deltas in Times of Climate Change in Rotterdam was a tremendous success. The conference attracted over 1.200 participants from all over the world and from different backgrounds: science, policy and practice.
