| Project result KfC HSRR06: Safe and multifunctional urban levees The objective of this KfC Hotspot Rotterdam study was to develop a concept and expertise on the combination of land uses and spatial functions with a safe primary levee system within a heavily urbanized area. The study focused on strategy development for the realization of multifunctional urban levees by exploring the options from an engineering, spatial and urban planning perspective. | Emissions of greenhouse gases are objectively measurable Although billions of euros are being made in the emissions trade worldwide, no country has ever objectively checked whether its emissions estimates are correct. Research has shown that it is indeed possible to objectively test current greenhouse gas estimates. The greenhouse gas emissions of, for example, an area the size of the Netherlands can be measured from one measuring station. This research was carried out with support of the CcSP ME02 project. | Cesar Database and a new agreement for exchanging data The Cabauw Experimental Site for Atmospheric Research (Cesar) is a consortium of eight institutes and universities. The goal of the consortium is to operate and maintain at the Cabauw site a unique observational facility with a comprehensive set of remote sensing and in-situ equipment to characterize the state of the atmosphere, its radiative properties and the interaction with the land surface. The consortium partners have signed a new agreement to exchange more data and knowledge. Climate changes Spatial Planning (CS02 project), Friday 16 July 2010 | |

| Summer School: Greenhouse gas emissions from rural activities - Monitoring, reporting and verification To mitigate climate change, demanding greenhouse gas emission reduction targets are being negotiated. Meeting these targets requires putting to work a broad and integrated range of reduction options, including those related to land use. The course aim is: full carbon accounting is a demanding task, in which scientific complexity and manageable, transparent accounting systems have difficulty to meet.
